Study: Sons Who Make ESPN Top Plays Have Better Relationship With Their Fathers

Fall '14

According to a report released by the Pew Research center, researchers believe there is a correlation between positive father, son relationships and earning a spot on ESPN's "Top 10 Plays." The study has found that the higher the play is in the ESPN daily countdown of the most impressive sports plays, the more positively fathers treated their athletic sons, frequently resulting in higher trust, more honest advice, and more frequent heart-to-heart conversations. However, the study concluded that fathers almost always maintained an unimpressed front unless the son makes the Top Play of the Week.
